This is who it’s always been about...

I have been rather quiet here, but not because I have nothing to share. Rather- the biggest reason being that I have so much I want to share that it’s been hard to know what to share. But also because moving is not a joke;)  . Today I want to share something that God has shown me, and I can not tell you how much it has changed the way I think.  . Simply put- everything is about Jesus. Jesus is all we need to focus on. When teaching or talking about Christianity, we often get so wrapped up in the things that point us *to* Jesus that we forget to teach Jesus Himself!  . Acts 8:35  “Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him.”  . Acts 5:42 ‭‭ “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” . I never really noticed what that is saying... until recently.  Sometimes we (me included) get caught up in “I’m baptist” or “I’m Pentecostal” or “I’m” whatever...  the point is Jesus.  . I’m going to share w

Certainly not traditional

Wait... I thought the guy gets down on one knee *before* you get married.... not 3 years later?.... . You’re right! That’s how it normally works. But our love story didn’t go as most do... not in any way, really.  . We got engaged over FaceTime and I waited 5 months for my ring😄 But I didn’t mind.  . Sadly, my wedding and engagement ring were stolen in spring 2019. It was a family heirloom as well which made even more sad.  . But Adam gave me this beautiful ring for me birthday (not til the 27th but it was an early gift) and since he never got down on one knee, he did that too;)  . Although I loved my first wedding and engagement ring, that’s not what makes or breaks a marriage. I love Adam so much more than I did the day he gave me that ring. And I’m glad God gave us each other.  . A sapphire is the birthstone of September, which means it’s my birth stone. I think sapphires are so beautiful:) And this ring is a picture of our relationship together... beautiful:)  . The Lord has been

I couldn’t have guessed it would be me...

I never thought it would be me struggling with this.  I knew of just a couple women growing up who it affected but not many.  I never thought *this* dream would be “stalled”. . Infertility.  . I don’t really know what it makes you think of when you hear that word, but I hope it’s not something that makes you uncomfortable. . People have asked us many times over the last 3 years that we’ve been married about children. It is a natural part of life and if you know how much I dearly love children, it’s reasonable to ask;)  . Up to this point, I’ve not really told many people that this is something I struggle with...  But God has shown me that this isn’t something to hide, although it does make me very sad. The only reason God allows things in my life is to strengthen me and bring Him glory.  . I know... I asked the same question at first... “how would He get glory from this??” The only thing I really know is that He has used it to help me realize that He is more important than the children

Things You've Probably Noticed About Your Crazy First Responder Friends

Image
Most people know someone who is a first responder, whether they are an EMT, a firefighter, a police officer... anything in that field. And very likely, you don't see them at events as much as other friends in your circle. Some people get offended at this, some choose to think that "their friend" must not really care to be apart of fun activities... and who knows what else people think. But I am here to tell you that this is not the case, and to ask you to please not be offended if your FR (first responder) friend (or family) doesn't come to everything they are invited to attend.... or even if they only come to half of what they are invited to attend. The truth is, the job of a first responder is so crazy. There is no "off on Holidays", or "off on the weekends". And there is a whole lot of unexpected. Every person, family, is different, but every family that loves each other, has one thing in common. When you love someone, you want to spend time

What Does It Mean To You?

This week instead of my normal devotions, I have decided to take my time reading through all the accounts of the Easter story. Today is the first day, and I started in Matthew. Before I sat down to read the account, I was listening to the song " Jesus, Thank You." "The mystery of the cross I cannot comprehend The agonies of Calvary You the perfect Holy One , crushed Your Son Who drank the bitter cup reserved for me Your blood has washed away my sin Jesus, thank You The Father’s wrath completely satisfied Jesus, thank You Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table Jesus, thank You By Your perfect sacrifice I’ve been brought near Your enemy You’ve made Your friend Pouring out the riches of Your glorious grace Your mercy and Your kindness know no end. Lover of my soul, I want to live for You." (Italics mine) I kept thinking of those words as I was reading. . . how can I not say thank you?! All the details that we have recorded for us about

Inflammation May Not Be What You Think....

Do you struggle with inflammation?  Maybe you aren't sure. Let's jump in and learn a bit more of what to look for...     If you would have asked me about inflammation, I would have quickly told you I did not struggle with that! So how DO we know if we have inflammation? Here are a couple things to know... - Chronic inflammation isn’t picky. It can attack any part of your body for attack. It can attack your skin, lungs, gut, blood cells... you name it. - People call “chronic inflammation” an invisible disease, but in reality it is written all over your body. Unfortunately, it DOES do it’s damage silently. For a long time you might feel okay or just fine, while in reality you are getting sicker each day as the internal fire increases. ---------------------------------------------- Here are some of the classic signs and symptoms to look for: Take a moment and do a self-check! • Arthritis, joint pain, stiffness •Heart disease ... Research shows that inflamma

Forget Spring. . .

. . . Welcome Summer! The temperatures rise quickly in central and southern Florida, which means it's pool time much sooner than normal. Ha ha, I say normal because I am a Virginian and their weather is normal to me;)  Although I love doing research on health topics, I have the time to have some fun! When it is 85-90 degrees outside it is a much better decision to go swimming than go running. It is still good exercise. Any recreation that has to do with water, I enjoy. Well, all the water recreational activities I have done that is;) (Might I say, I am very thankful that my mother in law chose to buy a house with a pool.) My little cousin, Ali, and I have enjoyed a couple days in the pool together. I suppose I am still a kid at heart when it comes to playing in the water... the ocean, a lake, a pool, the Florida springs.... We stayed in the pool for hours and had all kinds of fun. She especially loved it when I would go under the water and pick up her toy shark! I re
